Old Pictures that make me sad

You ever come across an old picture of one of your kids and it just makes you sad? In doing this picture project, I am scanning lots and lots of old baby and toddler pictures into my computer. They make me sad because they remind me that time is literally flying by. I came across this one of Maggie at age 2. I realized as I was putting this together that I hardly remember what maggie was like at this age. The only memories I really have are those that are on our video camera. I don't remember how her little voice sounded or how her baby skin felt. It makes me sad that our brains don't retain all that information a little better. They grow up so fast! 5 years from now, will I remember Maggie at age 8 (her current age?) As I look at Lydia in all of her 3 year old cuteness, I realize that in a few years, i will not remember what her little voice sounded like either. I'll only remember a small handful of the cute things that she daily entertains us with. I need to do more video taping and journalling. Let's hope that when we are all resurrected in perfected bodies, all of those little details that we have forgotten will be restored.

The scrapbooking begins

Our trip is over, everything is unpacked, the house is relatively clean, Lydia is at her cousin's house while the older girls are at school...I figure it's okay for me to sit down and scrapbook for a while. I get a burst of scrapbooking energy after big trips. Today, I completed four pages and thought I'd share them with you. Enjoy!

This was a GREAT pizza restaurant. The pizza was great and the breadsticks were giant! The nutcracker even got involved!

Temple Square is a must-see when you're in Utah. I've been more times than I can count but it's worth it every time!

This was one of the best experiences of our trip to Utah. Seeing Niel perform with MoTab was amazing. Being in the historic tabernacle, listening to that choir sing, was breathtaking! If you're ever in Utah, take a Sunday morning and go listen to the choir do Music and the Spoken Word. It's well worth your time.

Home Again

After a truly wonderful week in Utah, we are happy to be home, getting back into our normal routine. This Spring Break went way too fast. We are so thankful to Grandma and Grandpa Millar for letting us share this week with them! They spoil us so much when we come to visit. I'll post more details from our trip later so for now, you get Week 11 and 12 from my project 365. I'm off to get kids ready for church!
Enjoy

Distractions

I'm procrastinating today. I should be cleaning my house. I should be packing for our trip, I should be cleaning out the van, I should be cleaning my fridge. There's so much I should be doing, and yet here I sit, digital scrapbooking. If there's anything in life that can pull me away from my household responsibilities, it's this hobby. I suppose I better get started on my work but first, I'll post a few pages that I've been working on.

I am working on a family project for Christmas (early, I know). I am taking all of the girls' professional pictures, arranging them in age order and scrapbooking them. Hopefully, the end result will be a big book filled with the progression of our kids from baby to now. I've only completed two so far. These are last years' pictures of Jillian and Charlotte.

Clean home

Howdy everyone. After all the craziness of last week, I spent my entire day cleaning my house...I washed windows, dusted shelves, mopped floors, scrubbed bathrooms, cleaned counters, did laundry. It felt so GREAT to open the windows, let the fresh air in and smell the lemony scent of my cleaner. Nothing puts me in a good mood faster than a clean house. The girls came home from school and said, "Whoa, it's so bright in here." It's been a great day! Here's a recap of last weeks nuttiness:

Book character day

So, I'm surviving with seven kids in my house! Yesterday was really nuts though as I had the two extra boys, my two nephews and one of the girl's cousins over after school. That put the total number of kids in my house at 10! 10!! At one point the noise was so deafening that Charlotte looked at me and said, "mom, this is ridiculous." She quickly organized an activity to be played outdoors and took all 9 kids outside with her. I was so grateful for Charlotte yesterday. She saved my sanity and I was actually able to cook dinner for the masses. This morning, I made french toast, got everyone dressed and ready for school and put the boys in the tub. They've been in there for about 30 minutes (playing with Star Wars toy or course) so I've had a few quiet moments this morning. I'm looking forward to today's adventures.

romper room

So this week I am helping out a friend and watching her two little boys for her for 4 days. (The boys are Maggie and Allison's age.) There are a few things that I've noticed about little boys just in the short time they have been here. Number one: they don't whine near as much as my girls do. Number two: They sure can eat! We had barbqued hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner and one of the boys at a cheeseburger, french fries and two hot dogs! Wow! I am anxious to discover more differences as this week continues. The house will definately be chaotic. Casey came home tonight and said, "welcome to romper room!" With 7 children in my house, it will be a fun week for sure!

I finished another page for Lydia's long overdue baby book. This picture was taken when she was nine months old. How time flies!

Finally, here's week 9 of my project 365. Click on them to see what we've been up to!

Happy Casey

Here's the official picture of Casey with his new babies. He had just forked over the cash, signed the paperwork and called one of his employees to help him drive them home. Now we've got to find someone to put our logos on the sides for a very CHEAP fee. Any ideas?

Expanding Business (we hope)

Today was a big day for Destination Events! Today, we expanded our "fleet" of vehicles. Each year, we try and nurse along our very aged 1986 Isuzu box truck and each year, we end up putting about $5-6,000 into repairs on it. This year, we decided to finally make the switch to a newer model and today, was the day! We found a great deal on a 2004 box truck and we also got a 2004 cargo van for a steal. For the price we were anticipating spending on one box truck, we got two vehicles instead. Casey is a happy man! He no longer has to stew and fret over his guys breaking down on a long delivery out of town. We are keeping the old vehicle, it will just be used for local deliveries. Now, he needs to generate enough business this summer to warrant all of these vehicles! We'll see what happens.

This little gem was a steal of a deal...(it replaces the cruddy toyota pickup that broke down on the freeway....see previous post) :)
Casey cannot survive without a big truck like this one. It delivers everything...tables, chairs, inflatables, sound equipment! (Casey also uses it to help ward members and friends move)

Finally, here is what happened to our family last week! Enjoy!

Recovered

Hello everyone. After a pretty rough week last week, (I hurt my back and was laid up for a few days...drugged on painkillers :)), I am healing up and able to function again. Which means, I can finally sit at the computer for more than 5 minutes without horrific pain. As a result, in a quiet moment today, I was able to complete two scrapbook pages. One is from a few weekends ago when we went to the coast and the other is from 3 years ago (I know...I've neglected Lydia's baby book). Lydia is SO tiny! Anyway, thought I'd share. Enjoy!

(Casey's got a goofy look on his face...sadly, it's the only picture I have of the three brothers that participated in the blessing. That's okay though, Lydia knows that her dad is goofy!)
